Longevity of Prints:

Here are a couple things to keep in mind as you care for your new artwork prints:

  • Protect from direct sunlight. Do not place your artwork where it will be getting blasted by long-term direct sunlight. This is not artwork to display out on your patio! UV Light will damage the artwork, especially the prints. If you must place your artwork where it will be getting hit with some degree of direct sunlight, one alternative to give the print more protection is to frame your artwork behind UV Protection glass, which you can find available at most framing stores.
  • Display behind glass. Your artwork will last longer if it is displayed behind glass so it is not open to the air. Miscellaneous household pollutants in the air like cigarette smoke or cooking fumes can damage the print over time, resulting in fading.

As a general rule, you can expect the following longevity from your artwork prints:

  • 100+ years – if kept in plastic in an archival album
  • 30+ years- if displayed behind glass, not open to the air
  • 10+ years- if displayed unprotected and open to the air - This doesn’t mean that on the first day of the 11th year your print will be blank. It just means that you may notice some degree of fading after that point if it’s been unprotected all that time.
With some forethought and common sense, your new Kenneth Koskela artwork prints should provide you with many years of enjoyment!
